Why the light posts?

Figured that I owe you folks an explanation.  Just a heads up - I was born without that important filter that reminds me to keep stuff personal ...so sorry in advance :) I'm going to schedule this post ahead for you so don't worry. I'm not up at 3am :)

Brief version: I have anemia. I am EXTREMELY Anemic.  Hemoglobin numbers for a woman my age should be 12-18.  Before my blood transfusion this weekend mine was 8.2....I have also lost 16 lbs since Friday.  While I am trying to get healthier I somehow doubt that losing 16 lbs in 5 days is healthy....

The low hemoglobin causes me to be extremely sick.  I am weak, dizzy, get tired easily, am sick to my stomach a lot, have trouble thinking and coming up with the right word and just generally feel horrible. This has been going on for a few months where I feel bad like this and i'm unable to speak. (For some reason I call that thing you use to get tangles out of your hair a broom. I call the thing you sweep with a brush. :( )

What all of this boils down to is that I don't really have enough blood to operate my body properly. Of particular concern are my heart, lungs and brain.

At the very worst of being horribly ill in the past week I wound up laying in the floor shivering as though I were stuck out in sub-zero temperatures.  It was 75 in the house and I was wearing sweats, a coat and was under 3 blankets.  I was also in and out of consciousness.  Please don't worry though.  I'm fine now and for right this moment I have had to change my diet to one that is extremely iron-rich.  I am also taking an iron supplement three times a day to the tune of 325 mg per pill.

I have found some interesting info about iron after researching it and plan to put it in practice to help me gain hemoglobin in leaps and bounds.

At any rate....there you have it....the details of where I've been....
How do I feel now? About as well as can be expected.  I have a headache all of the time, i'm sore, i'm tired, and i'm sick to my stomach.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope that you feel better soon. I have a friend that has really bad iron issues. Rest and get better soon.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been so sick. I too have anemia issues so I feel your pain. My average blood coount is 9-10, and it's gone down to 7 before. It's scary. I can't take the iron since it makes me sick and choose not to take the blood transfusion, so it's a long road for me to get better. The iron rich diet helped me a lot, so hopefully that will work for you. Hope you're feeling better soon!
