Remember These are not like the gift certificates you would buy at the store that cover the full amount of your tab. These are more like exceptionally high value coupons so for example at BB Kings restaurant your $25.00 gift certificate has these restrictions:

Valid with a minimum food purchase of $35. 20% gratuity added to pre-discounted check amount. Not valid for special events

So if your check comes to right around $35.00 you will owe a gratuity of $7.00 so your total would be $42.00 before your GC which would eat up $25.00 of that leaving you to pay $17!!! That's quite a deal there (especially if you only paid $1.00 for your $25.00 GC!!!!)
